Event - Archaeology/Roman Weekend - Sat 11th/Sun 12th July: 11.00am to 4.00pm

The Romans were in full force today at our archaeology weekend.

There was lots to see and amazing value at £2 adults and children free – a real family event.

The Roman re-enactors gave amazing displays and there was an opportunity for the children to take part.

There were also other children’s activities including archaeology themed backpacks and tile making.

Tours of the abbey site were also well attended with more than 30 visitors taking the opportunity to have the abbey precinct brought to life.

The event continued on Sunday and, with good weather promised, was well worth the visit.
